Public data charges
Free and Starter accounts use credits when opening new public map data. The amount depends on what the search returns.
What stays free
- Company, project and document browsing, original public reports and list searches.
- Basic tenement browsing and reference overlays.
- Searches with no results and reopening data you have already acquired.
- Viewing, predicting on and exporting acquired drillholes in 3D and cross sections, and on Starter, exporting acquired public data from a map.
- Searching your own processed files.
- Panning, zooming and toggling reference overlays without opening a new paid selection.
Professional includes unlimited interactive search queries, with detailed data and exports within your plan allowance. Enterprise follows your agreement. See Plans and pricing.
Rates for new public data
| Data | Rate | What is counted |
|---|---|---|
| New detailed drillholes | 0.10 credit / hole | Available associated assays and geology included. |
| Surface samples and observation points | 1 credit / 1,000 points | Map quotes estimate new points from catalogue density and area. |
| Vector lines and polygons | 1 credit / 100 features | Map quotes estimate new features from catalogue density and area. |
| Raster data | 5 credits / estimated map block | One block per layer per five-degree geographic cell. |
There is no minimum charge per search. Drillholes, surface points and vector features are charged proportionally to their quoted counts; for example, a single new drillhole costs 0.1 credit. Drillhole counts are exact. Nondrill map quantities are estimates, and the accepted quote is the final charge.
Why some areas cost more
The boundary controls which data your search returns. There is no separate fee per square kilometre. A large area with little data can cost less than a small area with dense drilling or sampling.
Vector charges use the layer’s catalogue feature count and the proportion of its extent covered by one-degree geographic cells around your search. This assumes uniform density, so the estimate can differ from the actual number of features. Features intersecting those cells become yours, and previously purchased cells are free in later searches.
Raster map quotes use one estimated block per layer for each five-degree geographic cell touched by the search. This rough estimate does not measure the TIFF’s resolution or band count. The purchased area is available in later searches without another charge.
You pay for newly opened records
Reopening an acquired record does not charge you again. An overlapping search charges only for the newly opened records it adds. Nearby searches can look similar while including different records.
| Example | Charge |
|---|---|
| Open 20 new drillholes | 2 credits |
| Repeat the search with the same 20 acquired drillholes | 0 credits |
| Expand it to include 5 additional drillholes | 0.5 credit |
| Find no matching data | 0 credits |
These examples assume the selection contains only the stated drillholes.
Export data you have acquired
On Starter, select Export on a map to download the public drillholes and map layers you have acquired. The export uses no credits. Every public record in it must already be acquired: if the selection includes records you have not opened, the export is refused and the message says how many. Open them on a map to acquire them with credits, then export again.
On Free and Starter, Export in a 3D view of public data downloads the drillholes you have acquired, your own data and the scene's terrain, also at no credit cost and under the same rule. Public map layers export from a Starter map export; Free accounts cannot export public data from a map. On Professional, exports count toward your plan allowance. See Exports and your plan.
If the results cost more than your balance
Choose Adjust search to narrow the area or filter by company, project or data type. Your selection is preserved. Or choose Buy credits to add funds. After a successful search, the charge appears in Billing → Usage.
If the data is incorrect, use Report incorrect data. See Data issues and credit returns for the review process.
