Your first steps
Start with a place you know. Find its data, check the source, and keep the useful results together.
Choose where to start

The options visible in your account depend on your access. You can start with sample datasets from the upload dialog before adding a private project.
Find data in your area
- Open Search in the left menu. Enter a familiar project or a request such as gold drilling in Western Australia.
- Choose the document/list button to read results, or the globe/map button to see where the data is located.
- Open the filters and check Search Scope. Use public data, your personal data, or both.
- On the map, select a result and use its focus control to zoom to the data. Open the source document to check the original context.
Keep the useful results
Return to a search from Recent searches. Use its bookmark control to make it easier to find. To keep related searches and data together, create or track a project under My Data → Projects.
A saved search, a project, and an alert serve different purposes: a search keeps your question, a project organizes your work, and an alert tells you about matching new data.
